Wedding season is gearing up for the Spring in Arizona and I'm so excited! What a fun wedding to kick off the year!
Seth and Rachel met through mutual friends while attending ASU. They both were involved in sports there and developed a quick connection. On Saturday they were married at Brophy Chapel where both Rachel's parents and grandparents before them were wed. It was a gorgeous day and we had plenty of time for portraits both before and after the ceremony. Because I got so many great shots from this wedding I am going to split it up into two posts so I can share all the great moments. Before I do, I want to give a shout out to Victoria Canada who coordinated the event as well as this fabulous team of vendors:
Florist -- Petal Pusher
Bridesmaid dresses -- Twirl
Paper Products -- Celebrations in Paper
Gown -- Destiny's Bride
Tuxes -- Mr. Formal
Caterer -- Santa Barbara Catering
Cake -- Honeymoon Sweets
DJ -- Music Doctors
2nd Shooter -- Lizzie Kimball
I knew when I saw the shoes that this wedding was going to be fun. |
|
I love this shot of Rachel's bridesmaids getting her into her dress. They look like they're trying to figure out a really tough math problem.
Seth did some last minute preparations when I came to get him to see his bride:
Originally Seth and Rachel weren't going to see each other before the wedding but I think they were so happy that they decided to do so. They got to connect and love on each other a bit before the ceremony and the portrait time was so relaxed. I love these next few shots of their first reactions to one another:
We spent some time walking around the campus of Brophy and got some really fun shots.
You KNOW from this photo that Rachel & Seth are a hoot. That's right. A HOOT.:
Rachel's bridesmaids were a gorgeous bunch:
I adore how their flowers came out:
My 2nd shooter, Lizzie, hung out with the girls right before the ceremony while I was shooting guests. I have no idea what is going on in this moment but I love love love it.
So many people think that seeing each other before the ceremony will make the moment when the bride walks down the aisle somehow less special but Seth couldn't hold back the tears when he saw his bride coming toward him.
The chapel was very dark and I shot the entire ceremony with my 50mm 1.2 at f1.2 except this one shot that was taken with my 24mm 1.4 at f1.4:
Yesterday I participated in Bridal Bootcamp 2010 at the Arizona Biltmore. This was an event for couples who are planning their weddings to come and learn from the experts in each vendor category and to glean ideas that will take their weddings to the next level. The Bootcamp was an absolute hit and I had so much fun mingling with brides, consultants and other vendors throughout the day.
Bridal Bootcamp was organized by the fabulous Victoria Canada of Victoria Canada Weddings and Events and her and her team of course rocked it. Check out the super-cute bags they handed out to all of the attendees! Destiny's Bride, Mr. Formal and Twirl all brought in some bridal fashion for the attendees to drool over and there were lots of great door prizes. Phoenix Bride & Groom Magazine was also a big sponsor of the event. |
The Biltmore supplied yummy and gorgeous food:
There was a whole room dedicated to table settings and floral arrangements. I loved this one by Table Tops, Etc:
The attendees where put in small groups and cycled around to each vendor where they heard a short 18 minute presentation that included tips within the area of that vendor's expertise. Here's Rene from Celebrations in Paper sharing tips about paper products:
Andrea with Sedona Cake Couture who has appeared numerous times on the Food Network was on hand for cake tasting and with tips for designing your perfect wedding cake.
Corinna Cooke talked about and demonstrated make-up techniques to help brides look their best:
Keri from Twirl gave tips for utilizing your bridal party to its fullest:
And here's a shot Stuart from Eyes 2 See caught of me giving my presentation on 5 tips for spicing up your engagement shoot:
Jeff & Abby were married Saturday in Tucson. It was a gorgeous day and they were absolutely giddy. It was very cute and fun to witness.
Abby and the girls started the day out at her mom's house for hair and make-up: |
Toby, Abby's mom's puppy, stole the show most of the morning. He thought the party was for him. He got a new toy in honor of the day and the poor little bride-dog didn't last long:
Abby's Cockatiel, Holly, who has been a part of the family for 15 years also got in on the pics:
Abby's six bridesmaids all fit in the dining room for primping:
I love this shot of Abby doing her make-up:
Next we headed to The Stillwell House, my new favorite venue in Tucson, for the remainder of the day's events. Here's a shot of Jeff with his guys hanging out and looking all handsome. Most of them, including Jeff, are from New Jersey so I was entertained all day by the accents.
I love everything that Abby picked out for the day. Her flowers by In Full Bloom were so simple and fit the style of her dress perfectly. Abby looked stunning!
The couple chose to see each other before the ceremony which gave us a chance to take advantage of the gorgeous venue for portraits.
I love that the guys wore tan suits. The color palette was so clean and fresh:
Jeff and Abby were so easy to photograph. I had a tough time narrowing down my favorite portraits so there's a lot!
The bridesmaids wore tan and white stripped dresses from Twirl & the guys' ties were made of the same fabric as the dresses:
Abby's father walked her down the aisle:
Jeff's father officiated the ceremony and the bride and groom were both beaming:
I couldn't decide between the next two shots so you get both!
The bridal party started the celebration right away:
Meanwhile the courtyard was quickly transformed for dinner:
The details were beautiful:
And instead of cake, Abby & Jeff hired Frost Gelato to bring a cart to their reception!
It was such a gorgeous night--the perfect ending to a great day!

Tonight I had fun shooting the Wedding and Event Network's White Hot Urban Art Event. That's a mouth-full! The Wedding and Event Network is a great network for wedding industry professionals that meets monthly in the valley. And this month was a special celebration held at The Bentley Projects in Phoenix. What a fun venue! If you love the modern look--this is definitely a place to check out for your reception! I had a blast shooting there!
Here's some fun shots of the awesome decor. Linens by BBJ Linens, centerpieces by Your Event Florist and rentals by Tri Rentals as well as Classic Events and Parties: |
With all of this goodness as a fun favor:
