My dear friend Jen Thye -- who is also the fabulous wedding consultant behind Imoni Events -- is pregnant with her first child. This little girl has been long awaited for and prayed for and is a cherished gift from God. I'm so excited for Jen! She is going to be such a great mom!
Now you know when a wedding planner has a party it's sure to be amazing! It was so fun to see many of my industry friends there--many of whom helped out to bring together all the fabulous details for the shower. The yellow and white theme was so fresh and happy. M is for Madelyn!:
And these amazing flowers were done by Flora Europa:
Jen was gorgeous and stylish as always. She received some amazingly thoughtful and personal gifts including a little Madeleine baking sheet--so creative!
No shower is complete without silly games. Each of us had a little "baby" frozen in a cup of ice and we had to guess what time it would be "born." I discovered that estimating the rate at which ice melts is NOT one of my talents.
Jen is such a sweet person and is SO loved which was highly apparent from all the great friends she had in attendance. It was so fun to be a part of this celebration with her and to see her absolutely beaming with joy:
Can't wait to meet you in a few short month Madelyn!!
I just received the sweetest package in the mail from Erin, one of the awesome girls who attended The MJ 2 Day a couple weeks ago. Along with a really thoughtful card she had these cookies custom made for me and they have to be about the cutest, most thoughtful gift I've every received:
She even had the camera outfitted with my favorite lens! I know everyone's going to ask where she got these so here you go: SweetestB on Etsy.
Earlier this month I wrapped up the first MJ 2 Day workshop and it was such a huge success that I'm already planning the next one! If you missed the blog posts on the workshop earlier this month click here and here to read all about it. And here's a little video that my talented friends over at Serendipity Videography put together for me documenting some of the action:
The next MJ 2 Day workshop is scheduled for October 26-27, 2009. The workshop is open to the first 12 photographers who sign up. To find out more and register go to the MJ 2 Day website!
This morning I had the opportunity to be on the Fox Arizona Morning Show and talk to parents about tips for taking photos of their children this summer. Live TV is always fun. This isn't the first time I've done something like this and the trick is there are no do-overs. It's live. It's on air as you're saying it. So when the word "butt" came out of my mouth during the short segment, I couldn't push rewind and do it over. Oh well -- I'm a big dork -- my secret is out! And now for your viewing pleasure:
Here are a few of the photos I took during the segment. Avery was such a poser. Even though one of my tips was to not prompt kids, sometimes they like to ham it up for the camera without any prompting. Total cuteness:
And little Tristan may have a future in broadcast journalism:
What a fun opportunity! A big shout out to Jennifer Doan, one of the producers over at Fox who is one of my regular blog readers. Thanks so much for thinking of me for the segment Jennifer!
Adam and Elizabeth were married on Sunday at Sassi--a beautiful venue in Scottsdale. These two were dream clients -- in love with each other, sweet as pie, easy-going and crazy about photography. It was such a joy to get to know them and be a part of their amazing day!
I also had the pleasure of working with a stellar team of talented vendors who put their stamp on the day:
